Farm Animals
Friars Moor is a long established farm veterinary practice, which aims to provide a quality and individually tailored service to all our clients. The large number of dairy cows in our area has led us to develop into a specialist dairy practice. However, our vets have the expertise to treat all classes of livestock, ranging from small ruminants such as sheep, goats and camelids to game birds and poultry.
Herd Fertility
- Our vets can provide regular routine visits for fertility management.
- Access to Interherd a Dairy Herd Management program is available to assist with fertility management. This computer software records calving’s, heats, services, PDs and fertility treatments, which helps in producing a variety of action lists, as well as a ‘vet list’ of animals to examine on the next routine visit.
- Controlled Breeding Programs can be arranged to synchronise oestrus in groups of heifers or cows.
- The clinic also offers DIY AI courses including both theory and practice training sessions, on farm and at the surgery.
Herd Health Planning
- We can provide a British Cattle Veterinary Association (BCVA) Herd Health Plan. Health Planning is vital to maintain the productivity of your herd, and our vets are here to work with you, to discuss and advise on disease, parasite control, monitoring vaccinations and herd biosecurity.
